Before we can help you with your coverup journey, there are a few things you need to know.

it is very important to me that all expectations going into a coverup project are as realistic as possible. For example:

If you have a tattoo that looks like this.

You can not have a tattoo like this as your coverup.

All coverups are different and unpredictable based on a number of factors such as, your skin and how it reacts to/absorbs pigment, how dark/scarred the existing tattoo is, how old the existing tattoo is, whether we are covering with a color tattoo or a black and grey tattoo, etc. I can never know exactly how a coverup tattoo will go/heal until I start tattooing on your skin. Some coverup projects are not a one appointment process and may take 2 or more sessions to fully saturate and cover the existing piece.

Let’s jump back to how scarred the existing tattoo is for a moment. If you have an existing tattoo that is riddled with blown out lines, chewed up areas, and scarred to hell and back… I unfortunately cannot help with that. I can hide the existing pigment, but because scar tissue is typically raised and 3d, it may be visible through the new tattoo in extreme cases.

“i got a tattoo fixed here from a different shop, and RI was amazing! She made it better than my expectations and was light handed. I have never sat for a full day session before (my max previous being 4 hours or so) and it was such an easy experience. I will definitely be coming back to PA from CT to get more work done by RI!”

Coverup designs require a lot of dark tones, solid blacks, and full coverage to properly cover your existing tattoo. Tattoo designs or styles that require a lot of open skin typically do not work well for a successful coverup.

Color is typically the better option for coverups, as it allows more variation in coverage, but black and grey coverups can also be achieved using opaque grey pigments, rather than your typical black ink wash.

Please also keep in mind: the larger your existing tattoo is, The larger your coverup will need to be as well! Typically, a coverup needs to be at least double the size of the existing piece, sometimes larger. This is for a few reasons.

1.) it ensure having the best chance at full coverage of the existing design.

2.) No one looks at your new tattoo and immediately says “Wow! You obviously covered something with that!”

The important stuff.

or this.

But you can have something like this…

Pricing.

Coverups are priced by an hourly rate of $180.

Sessions may be broken up into as many 2 hour minimum sessions as you would like or need.

I understand that coverups can become pricey depending on the size and intricacy of them. I also believe that everyone deserves a fair chance to be as happy as they can be with their body. We offer the use of financing through afterpay for all tattoo appointments.

I pride myself on being honest and upfront with all of my clients, and I only want to take on projects like this when i am 100% confident that you will leave in love with your new tattoo instead of thinking “Maybe third times the try”.

Although it’s rare that I turn a coverup away, sometimes it is necessary so that you can receive the best outcome possible.

If I believe that your existing tattoo is too dark/damaged to successfully cover, or it will require you to go with a design/subject that you don’t really like, I will refer you for laser removal treatment. Full removal is not necessary to cover, but a few sessions of laser can often help remove the darkest parts of the existing tattoo, as well as lessen scar tissue and overall damage.

Calling in reinforcements.

“Ri did my coverup. It looks so much better now thanks to her. She explained how cover ups work and what would look best and worked with me on the design. She is so kind. She has little snacks and drinks for people which is so thoughtful and I haven’t seen in other shops. I would recommend her and her shop for sure!!”
